While not Murakami at his best, this is a book worth reading. It asks a lot of questions about what makes art ‘art’, and explored the process by which artists bleed out into their work. As always, there aren’t often clear answers to many of the questions raised, yet somehow through his stories, Murakami is able to bring understanding in ways that transcend words. And isn’t that was stories are all about?
