A thesaurus is a general tool, not a bludgeoning weapon to be used on nearly every paragraph. Just because a word is more obscure does not make it the best word for any occasion.

I’m on the map page, have not even started the book, and I’m already annoyed. We’re ripping off The Golden Compass and using a mix of real and fake names for locations in the British isles. Pick one and COMMIT, dang it.

I don’t even understand how you turn Dramione into an actual novel if the fanfic wasn’t incredibly AU to start with, but guess I’m gonna find out!

Can she go half a page without talking about how she’s a queen? Can the exposition be more flat? Do I have the patience to find out?
…honestly, probably not. I’ll keep at it until it’s due back at the library and then call it there if I haven’t made it through.

Is this a Reylo AU? I’m suddenly feeling like it’s a Reylo AU. Not complaining, it just hit me hard.

Does the description of this book cover at least four different Hallmark-style Christmas movies that I can think of? Yes.
Am I sure I will enjoy it?

Loving it, but as someone April’s age… I am definitely not as old as April seems to be, with her creaky joints and greying hair that she apparently regularly dyes. It definitely feels like the author is pretty young.

I’m doing it. I’m finally reading the last few books of a series I’ve been reading since my teens, completed by an author who has recently become one of my absolute favorites.
I’m fairly certain I still won’t find out who killed Asmodean.

A book about a pandemic hits different, these days. And I’m not keen on the lack of quotes to separate dialogue. But I’ll keep at it for a bit longer.

Tbh, I bought this book because I love the illustrator’s comics and it’s a fantasy romance set in the big woods of Wisconsin.

I am regretting none of this purchase. It’s FUN.

Having successfully completed one whole book since Elijah was born (it only took me four months!), I'm going to give Oathbringer a go finally. I've been wanting to read it for ages and just haven't had the brainpower to manage it yet.

Just got my ARC from LibraryThing!

Heard from Del-Ray finally, and they're re-sending the book. Hooray!

Since I never received the ARC I won through the GR giveaway and the publisher never responded to me and GR says they can't do anything now that more than 3 months have passed... I will have to wait until I can budget for the book to review it. I'm not really impressed with how the publisher and GR handled this.

I really don't think I can do this. The main character is detestable. People only matter to her if they're hot enough, and she's ridiculously caught up in how super incredibly SO HOT she is herself.

And now to avoid serial killer landlords, she's uglifying herself by washing off makeup, wearing glasses, and disheveling her hair. Because only hot women get murdered?

AAAAND we have some casual anti-semitism. "To be more accurate, I drove, because in all her Brooklyn-born, Jewish-American princess glory, Nava had shrewdly managed to avoid learning how to drive a stick shift." ...pretty sure not knowing how to drive stick comes from being American and just not loving cars or NEEDING to learn stick.

I already hate the main character. Being picky and knowing your value is good... Bragging about your appearance like it's the only important thing? Shallow and tedious.

So far this book is everything I wanted from it.

I have it and an afternoon and evening in airports. :)

First off, this book is GORGEOUS. Looking forward to the read.
