I’m really enjoying this book so far — my brother and his girlfriend lent it to me because they thought I’d love it and they were right. Bourdain is one of the most unique writers I’ve read, with his wealth of experience in many different avenues of life. He is also laugh out loud hilarious. So great thus far!

Now That’s What I Call Fiction!!

Fiction typically does not hold my attention, so historical fiction seems to be the happy medium I’ve adopted for myself. I am also fascinated by history of this region, and horrified by the history, art & culture that has been destroyed in the face of Shari’a law. Islamic art and design is so beautiful. I wonder how much has been lost. Gorgeous story thus far!!!

Did not finish :/ I’m rly bad at reading fiction unless it’s a subject something I’m obsessed with. I liked the world building in this book, but I found myself being lost in who the narrator. Again, NOT the author’s fault I’m just bad at reading fiction 😔
