Taking a break from this book after a sexual assault / rape scene

I am really enjoying this book but really would have appreciated any sort of heads up that the story line includes heavy domestic abuse. I picked this up for my summer read as described as a story of hope and now I am thinking I might need to get a lighter themed book to take away with me on my holidays…

On my second day of reading this book and I’m surprised on how quickly I’ve got into this book. I really relate to her experience with secondary school so it’s been very therapeutic for me to read.
