I am being very picky in my critiques with this book bc its genuinely delightful and the stuff i am critiquing also doesnt bother me as much as it would in other books bc this book really is very good and i am excited to finish this and continue the series

I absolutly love the writing style and I love that it's written from Heras POV. And I very much adore that it is showing that the time indeed was mor complicated in Ithaca then just a queen and a kingdom waiting.

There still were massives liberties taken out from the myths which sometimes take me out a little (like Orestes and Elektra searching Clytemnestra on Ithaca) but otherwise I really enjoy it so far.

Everytime I feel sorry for Bunny he opens his mouth and then I don't but then I remember his suppoused friends are plotting a murder and his character is probably skewered to make the murder seem more justified

I think, if I wasn't annotaiting it and engaging very actively I would by far not have a good time.

The only character I slightly care about it Camille, but even that only because Richard is describing her as object and I feel sorry for her. The other characters are just idk and there are stretches of stories where not a lot happens.

But annotaiting it gives me a way to engage with it and that makes it interesting

They are all fucking weird, man. This just seems like a cult

Okay the way Electra is characterized is SO WEIRD. like Clytemnestra and Cassandra are done really amazingly but Electra is borderline incestious about her father and I find that SO WEIRD. bc she doesnt even have her own character.

Also Helen, my poor girl, everyone is just making assumptions about you and using you for whatever they need, I am so sorry.

And Iphgenia and Casandra my tragic princesses, how I adore you.

Also no one could ever make me hate you, Clytemnestra. She's so right in everything she does.

The wyverns being smoked out of their cages, Viv and Atlas thinking about using echolocation and now Chumana.

Istg if anything happens to her I will loose my mind (same with Marquis. I adore him)

Gotta admit Vivien is already making me roll my eyes (escpecially about her talking about Atlas constantly) but also NO ONE told this girl ANYTHING so i also kinda get why she acts like she does.

But also Chumana, my pretty pink dragon, how i missed you.

I love how often it is said that Odysseus is a liar and a trickster. It's so funny to me

Telemachus just being an emo, edgy son is so funny to me. He is so dramatic. It has to run in the family.

Also Menelaus being gay for Odysseus is so real of him.

but also how ready I am to see Achilles have an answer to "What has Hector ever done to me?"

(Don't be mistaken. Hector might be one of my favourite characters. I love him. But I am still excited to actually see Achilles rage and not just a pouty child.)

Listen, I like some of the men more than I should because they are all assholes (also the slaughtering scenes really do fuck with my head bc its just "Person A kills Person B, C and D. And Person E kills Person F and G" and so on. Which fair enough but I do care more about the interpersonal moments and the Gods being annoyed with Zeus)

This really is just a tv drama for the gods and thats kind of hilarious

istg paris is just hated by everyone (rightfully so) but also these grown ass men acting like children is hilarious to me somehow.

Okay so I honestly have to get used to Lila yet. I did like Kell but everything is his fault quite litterally.

I do very much enjoy Rhy tho, he's delightful.

Also Astrid and Arthos are really hot and that kinda makes me question my type but I already knew I like people that are absolutly unhinged and really dangerous.

Something I find fascinating is the fact that a theme that is found over and over in fantasy stories is the fondness of human made things - buildings, mechanism, etc - that are made without magic.
Even while we long for magic, we can appreciate what we can do with our hands and I think that's fascinating

I know people love slowburns but at this point it is getting painful.

But it definitly makes me want to read on and the romance isn't even the main part of the story. It's a subplot.

I needed some time to get into this one (aka i read a chapter, was really annoyed that paige forgot that arcturus hadn't really betrayed her and then took a two day break) BUT NOW I AM IN. paige is smart and already is onto the thought of arcturus not having betrayed her.

and in the best news. MARIA IS BACK AND SHES GAY AND HAS A GIRLFRIEND WHO IS REALLY SWEET.

THE YEARNING. THE FUCKING YEARNING.
