waiting for smth to happen, the spiral downwards of yeong-hye was interesting but then for the second part her role is kind of limited to “promiscuous, no thoughts head empty”. i’m curious for part 3

maybe not in the right mindset to read this, definitely was more difficult to get through compared to the second book

many plot lines and points get introduced but so far don’t get really expanded on: what about sara’s own thoughts on criminals, is this supposed to be some play on what trauma does to you? she went through SA but it’s never described further how it impacts her view on designing the tower. they say that the guy is the bf, but their relationship seems stilted?

written very stilted which makes it a bit weird to follow, mc is not that likeable? written very robotically, but maybe that’s the point

interesting collection of complot theories, i do feel like the authors tried to make it into some kind of cohesive plot but that’s not really working

i loved the focus on a group of elderly people, who have each in their own way have so much to tell about their lives. it’s very wholesome and hopeful. reading this book has made me long for a steady, full life lived filled with fortified wine, snacks, museum trips, and puzzles with music.

you’ll worry anyways, might as well worry whilst doing something you like/love

early on you already get the idea that lin yun is going to turn out as a kind of antagonist, i really like how it is done, though the macro-fusion with the strings does seem to be introduced and implemented a bit too quickly

so far it’s not actually clear to me whether the authors are examining the limits of quantification, rather than just describing specific quantification methods and why they don’t always work

i don’t think this romanticism is for me, it’s too dramatic and for what

catherine’s and heathcliff’s relationship is uncertain to me, it doesn’t seem like they are in love so how am i meant to believe this betrayal is of large magnitude
