They are like recounting their love life in a way that makes my skin crawl 😭 if someone did this to me, no matter how important the conversation, i would truly get up and leave. This third person does not deserve this amount of disrespect

I think I am tired of books trying to be edgy in general, because it is very rare for it to actually feel ‘edgy’ in a way that isn’t a teenager trying to be cool 😭 anyway, they did the one interesting boy and dynamic dirty and his only crime was being more interesting than the main leads combined

It is real cheap to just kill off the inconvenient love interest that MC doesn’t want. As usual, we have to settle for the boring, brooding shadow man that sits in a corner and does nothing 😔

I love the idea of this story but already hate Julie 😭 i really wonder if she was supposed to be written as unlikable to me or pitiable

I can accept Lan having this stupid philosophy of blindly trusting the enemy to keep his word- but Zen too?? Diabolical

Slightly annoyed by the recaps but I get why they’re there. Lovely prose so far ❤️

Man I change my mind the author brought this together beautifully, antagonist fully understood through one scene ❤️

Okay I really like this story BUT there is one plot element around the antagonist that hasn’t been fleshed out nearly enough so doesn’t really make sense to me at all. And it’s a shame because I think I know where the author could go /imply with that but they haven’t done that at all in text

Love how normal being gay is seen in this world- it’s really refreshing to not always have to read homophobia in a queer novel

I think this is cute so far! Deffo adds to the vibe that this is an audio book and I am listening to it while crocheting on the train tho. I think i both like, but find jarring, the accurate /mostly accurate pronunciations of Japanese things in the text, as it’s different to how a British person would pronounce it normally

I think there is a lot to like abt this book but also a lot to dislike, which is a shame, but the ending is mostly good. I’ll count this more as a 3.5 and round up to 4 to b nice

I’m actually so sad that I don’t like the community aspect in this book, even tho it’s the selling point. The ‘community’ in this book are invasive, rude, disrespectful of the original i habitants and feels more like a version of gentrification/invasion than a joining of groups (and this is both abt the plants and the family) :(

Not enough bad things are happening to the characters

The family drama to me is the interesting part of the book and I think we should’ve gotten here quicker
