Reading haughty english after a decade of brain rot content is no small feat but I will finish this book

This book so far is essentially “give a man a fish and he’ll have a meal teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for the rest of his life”. There’s a line being tread here between “get your hands dirty” and “pull yourself up from your bootstraps” that’s towing a bit too far into the latter, but we’ll see how it continues.

As a man who probably has a total of 10 whole outfits, I appreciated the couple page rant on fast fashion

Yes her recaps of her marriage is heartwarming but the description of the french food market had me unironically salivating

Part 4 Done
Okay the book has won me over

Part 3 Done.
The book has slowed down in parts but it throws out just enough twists to keep me in. Also there is no shot that Goddard wasn’t influenced by The Judge from Blood Meridian

Part 2 Done, the book is really good at making you hate the main villains and there were some great twists in this section, hoping the rest of the book keeps it up

Part 1 Done. I could never be a scythe, way too many sports commentators, referees, and opposing fan bases I’d be unjustly “gleaning”

“I want to insist that our being alive is beautiful enough to be worthy of replication. And so what? So what if all I ever made out of my life is more of it?” sometimes just have to stop and post some 🤌 quotes

Reading update as “Get Rich Or Die Trying” was mentioned. I feel simultaneously the complete opposite of the target audience for this book and the exact target audience of this book

Had to pause reading to give a Black Eyed Peas mentioned update

I think at times the metaphors/ poetic elements of this book are a bit much for the seriousness of the subject matter, but I did laugh when “the flush” was described as “her face, the shade of raw ground beef from a single Heineken”

Frank Herbert definitely saying more about the world in this one
