Jung is putting to words things that my mind has hazily ascertained for years. The phenomenologist vs. thomist philosophical debate: a matter of type preference. One more emphasizes the object of experience, the other emphasizes the idea. Clinically, this is less of a gold mine, but the work of John Beebe provides a much smoother road map of the psyche for practical application.

I refer to this as a clinical manual for the less discussed emotions, like confusion and boredom, and it has been hugely helpful in helping clients unlock emotional states.
