Clare Draycott is reading A Guilty Secret
This was the first of Philippa East's books that I have read and I'll definitely be reading more. Gripping, well-plotted and brilliantly paced. I was completely caught up in the story!

I really enjoyed this novel. I kept swinging between huge sympathy for the main character, Louise and real dislike. I did not see the end coming at all.

Laura Marshall captures the desperate need to fit in which can dominate anyone's teenage years and the ways in which we shape and restructure our own story to portray ourselves in the best possible light. This was well plotted and well-written. I enjoyed it.

Clare Draycott is reading Into the Woods: A Five Act Journey Into Story
This was one of the best, most accessible books about writing fiction that I have read to date. John Yorke is a screenwriter, but everything he says in 'Into the Woods' applies to the novelist too.

Yorke breaks down the art of storytelling using a plethora of well-known examples of film, TV programmes and novels. The book is beautifully written, making it an enjoyable as well as an instructive read.
