I'm obsessed with this so far. Do not disappoint me!

My fav part is when one parasite diss another parasite, "you let your own hosts die, but you don't even care. Disgusting. How do you decide when to abandon them? When it gets too rough for you in there? Too dangerous, too painful? Have some fucking self-respect."

NetGalley gave me an opportunity to read this book and so far I'm enjoying it very much. The writing is simple but not cheap, smooth like a movie playing in my head. The story is told in a comfortable pace. And the transition from the "present" to the past is nice and clean as well. I'm excited.

I don’t how I feel about the book so far. Writing is fine. It’s just I failed to like our narrator Grace. She sounded mental and also I really don’t like the part where she guilt trip and gaslight…. Ok no spoilers. And I have a faint feeling what the end is… I don’t know if I can finish this book, but I’ll try.

"As a child, I banged my thumb with a hammer. The thumbnail went black as a layer of blood formed between the nail plates. The entire nail peeled off. Underneath was a gummy residue of old blackened blood. That's how my mind feels down here. A layer of blackness exists between my brain- the functioning gray matter - and my skull. It makes thinking difficult."

Love this description. Nothing fancy, but simple and raw.

This book has one of the creepiest and most disturbing moments that scare me more than most of horror movies. Sometimes I had to put it down to take a breath before I continue because some parts really hit my phobias. But the "bad" timing of sudden travel to the past of our protagonist really kills me. You would understand when you reach 41% of this book. Great book. I'm enjoying it so much so far!
