This book is epic. The prose is on point and the storytelling is incredible. Part one of two fat books about the siege of Stalingrad. Called the War and peace of 20th century. I think it’s better. Got 200 pages into Life and Fate before I realized there was a prequel and I’m glad I stopped. So many characters mentioned in the second completely developed in the first.
