why did i choose this book like even in my prime true crime consumption i didn’t care abt the manson family but here i am

trying audiobook…not my strong suit so far

flimsiest enemies setup i’ve seen in a long time but i’ll allow it

the Maggie PR is not looking so hot rn but hopefully she turns it around (side character btw)

this is a good book i’m just crawling through it bc im in an era of obsessively reading fanfiction okay !!!!

if i have to listen to the kids i work w struggling to popcorn read this for the next ~2 months then im damn sure gonna count it toward my reading goal

every time it’s rowan or aelin POV i just feel like im forced into a cuck chair that i don’t wanna be in while i could be following the otherwise extremely interesting plots going on within this universe instead

sjm may piss me off at times but she knows how to drive a plot forward

why in book 4 SJM has decided that “rutting” is her favorite cuss word i will never know but i can say with certainty that i fucking hate it

took a break to read fanfic but i’m back (ao3 was down)… i’m so sick of this Chaol/Aelin pissing contest dude, plus the way Maas changes so much of how the characters fundamentally understand and interact w one another without explanation from the previous book(s) to this one is irking me <3

Chaol and Aelin are starting their “who can be a bigger hypocritical asshole” fight off strong (Chaol is winning but Aelin appears to have had half a personality transplant from the last books)

am i supposed to like any of these characters? no, right? i read this in high school but cannot for the life of me remember any discussions abt it at all

going back from Legendborn Cycle to resume my journey through Throne of Glass makes me a little apprehensive that my standards may be too high…but we shall see

listening to the audiobook so it’s fresh in my mind and i am well equipped to hate on the movie once im done <3

plot is cooking + burgeoning love triangle (i’m always team let her have two boyfriends but we’ve got bigger fish to fry i realize)

help i’ve got a case of the “i think i hate the fmc”s

the way that everyone acts as if romantic involvement is the barometer for how successful a person’s life is in this book is very triggering to me

just checking in to say that a highly trained and notorious assassin should probably be able to put two and two together but alas this dumb bitch has to be clueless for the plot

did i think the first one was mediocre at best? yes. do i need to read the whole trilogy? also yes.

wish i could consume books w suspenseful plot lines like i do other books but i have to microdose discomfort i guess

thank god these are structured w breaks every ~50 pages bc i have to pace myself reading these books (i. e. they take me 3-5 days as opposed to 1). the vaccines and autism sentiment…please be so serious jodith i can’t do this. also jacob is serving sociopath and it’s tied in w his autism as a character which feels very problematic for someone who does her research…may be my first <4 star picoult read, idk yet
