Monoeyed Hawk answered in exhaustion: “Say, are you so used to pretending to be a villain that you’ve forgotten how to be a good person?”

Lu Bixing looked at him with a mischievous smile: “Please mister, can you just spare a night for me out of your busy schedule? My medical report says I’m severely lacking the essential vitamin Lin Jingheng from my body, and if I don’t take it soon it would be life-threatening.”

Lu Bixing said, matter-of-factly, “hey, let’s talk it out from now on. Do you ever see me playing cold war with you when I get mad? Don’t you think you’re being unreasonable here?”

Lin Jingheng nodded expressionlessly and said: “I do, so what? Is this your first day knowing me?”

LBX stopped his footsteps in defeat and turned his head to look at Lin Jingheng’s cold face. He waved for the commander to walk closer toward him, then leaned in and bit Lin Jingheng’s ears as he whispered: “If you’re going to keep pretending you can’t read the room, I’m going to publicly harass you on the streets.”

LJH glanced coldly at him--I dare you.

LBX: “....Nope, how about you harass me instead?”

“The original concept of the forbidden fruit was brought up by the Committee themselves. They wanted to use Eden to keep an eye on everyone but didn’t want to be watched themselves. They wanted to build a special bypass system for their own people but didn’t expect Hardin to upgrade it into a weapon that could pierce through the entire Eden system on his own.

LBX didn’t dare to show any PDA in front of his own father, but still discreetly slid his leg underneath the table to tap the tip of the commander’s boots. It was a meaningless gesture that could only be explained as a strange obsession of wanting to touch the commander-he calls this the “Lin Jingheng Syndrome” that makes him crave physical contact when he sees the commander within reach to satisfy his itching heart.

He rubbed his temples and said, “you know, I really hate your habit of changing the topic in the middle of a heartfelt confession. If you don’t know what to say, why can’t you find some books to read and learn how a real confession works?”

He then pulled back his obnoxious crab legs and readjusted his shirt, then quickly shot a strange glance down as if he was checking something. (HEHE HIS PEEPEE)

Sometimes Lin Jingheng would purposely mess with the Council when he received the proposal and wouldn’t even write ‘approved’ on it, only make a little mark-- a period meant it was approved, a question mark meant the proposal needed further detailing, an exclamation mark meant it needed to be sent back to revise, and a X mark meant ‘you’re a dumbass.’

The biggest mystery, however, was the fact that everyone around Lin Jingheng, from human to AI, were all chatterboxes that didn't know how to shut up. For the commander who enjoys peace and quiet, everyday felt like purgatory.

He was starting to think that only missiles could quiet down these losers. Yet thankfully Lu Bixing was a man of honor and composure who didn’t make it a habit to pull out a missile towards his comrades when disagreements happened. Under desperation, he finally announced into the channel: “Excuse me, I have a marriage proposal to make!”

Lu Bixing had learned two important lessons while he was a young teen: to not care too much about his own feelings, and not care too much about the amount of time things took.

The commander was very tempted to take Zhanlu off the Model 3 right now and reinstall him on a more appropriate hardware: a stationary workout bike.
