Did not finish. Really liked the premise, but the execution did not work. The grandfather was insufferable and Mona did not resemble a real child.

3.5 stars. The plot of the book is very interesting, but I felt let down by the writing. As other reviewers have noted, the writing style is grating - probably for the first quarter of the book. It feels very effortful without adding anything or, at times, even making sense. There's a real fixation throughout the book on sex and body parts that again didn't add value and felt shoehorned in.
