I’ve lost the plot entirely. Peter Featherstone is dead?? I’m not sure who Peter Featherstone is. Dorothea is unhappy in her marriage. There’s a new hospital being built in Middlemarch. Something about a treasure chest.

Re-reading the book I began the year with—a symbolic bookend to this year's personal interest of exploring shame and its role in the Christian life.

I'm also in a very different season of life from when I first read this book, interested to see what a re-read will illuminate this time around

Bought/ started this book on October 12,2024. Couldn’t get into it 😵‍💫😵‍💫 now picking it back up about 5 months later in hopes that the now available audiobook, courtesy of Libby, will reinvigorate me to finish this book.

At this point, you’re supposed to hate Esteban Trueba right? Because I absolutely loath him. What a monstrous excuse of a man (i can say that bc he’s fiction). He genuinely disturbs me. I anticipate the all-too-familiar trope of a man miraculously transforming solely for the sake of his “one true love”, perpetuating the notion that such a change excuses past poor behavior and incompetence in men. Boo.
