so far this book is just about consumerism

something about living in Indiana just makes people think about being forgotten a lot huh

Idk if it’s because I’m already sad and on my period but this book is really tugging at my heartstrings

“When exactly have I ever been anything other than totally honest?” says girl after 300 pages of faking a relationship

I’m surprised the characters’ lips aren’t completely chapped from how much they “worry her bottom lip with her teeth”

“Elle had agreed to fake a relationship, but she refused to be anyone other than exactly who she was, not for her family, and definitely not for Darcy.” 2+2=5

the MC is “quirky”: she walks into an almost-stranger’s house, stands on her white rug without taking her shoes off, and puts her feet up on the couch.

1) the vibe is enid blyton for adults
2) are terracotta and altamira real names? if I met a child with either of those names, i would absolutely think they were witches
3) why does Mika have a dog and not a black cat? That’s the most unrealistic thing about this book (not the magic)
