Just started this… no one is questioning the first page in chapter 1?

“…most jurisdictions did not allow married women to own and control their own property until later in the 19th century. In the UK, the Married Women’s Property Act was passed in 1970.”

Can’t find any evidence that this is true. Help?

Quite possibly a new favorite, I’m such a sucker for historical fiction. Weirdly, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book and thought “I want to be so and so.” But… I want to be Sira!
