I first read this book after having my wisdom teeth removed, and I guess I was still loopy from the surgery, because I don't remember much about the plot. Now here I am reading it again (well, listening; the audiobook narrator is pretty good so far!) so I can continue on with the sequels this time.

All of the details fit together better than I remembered. I need to stop letting reviews convince me otherwise.

I'm beginning to rethink which book is my favorite of the series. It might be this one now.

Also, I love the idea of the castle dungeon being accessible only when the tide is receded. I wonder if I can come up with something similar and if it would fit one of my story ideas. 🤔

I still hate Edward. 😠 And I still love Kendrick. 💙🤎 And I think this is still my favorite of the series. But boy, do these authors know how to end on a cliffhanger.

I understand now why this series is so popular. I'm loving it.

Spoiler: I feel like authors who kill the main character's pet dog shouldn't be trusted. 😭

Reading this series for the first time. I am ready to be emotionally devastated.

Also, I have to wonder if Trisha and Jerry read The Maze Runner before writing this book. Several little details are reminding me of that series. I mean, come on, there's a runner named Thomas!

I didn't count on getting sick and not feeling like reading for two days. Which means I'm cutting it close on finishing this book for my Goodreads challenge. Thankfully I'm off work for Christmas break.

Also, I love middle grade, seeing girls and boys just being friends without any romantic expectations. Not that I'm against romance, but sometimes a plot line without it is refreshing.

I've had this book since 5th grade, maybe longer. I figured it was high time I read it! And it's perfect for Christmas!

Only Act IV is left! I'm excited to see where this ends!

The ending was better than I remember. Still, I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as I did when I was sixteen. Growing up stinks.

The last half dozen chapters were so painful to read. I'm so stressed. I thought reading was supposed to be relaxing!

I love how the Bermuda Triangle is used in fiction! It's used as The Sea of Monsters in the Percy Jackson series, and it's used as the Threshold into the Fourth Reflection in this book. I want to use it in one of my stories, too. Maybe Project Croatoan?

Rereading this series for the first time since... 2020, I think? And I'm starting to believe this is where I got some of the inspiration for Project Dakota.
