The reader dearest

I remember reading up until a bit before where I am the first time I tried reading and damn that was sad. Life can be so scary

I think when I encounter stories where people are being blackmailed it gives me anger and inability to read mostly because I feel too bad for the character in a different way from normal sadness. I’m not sure what this feeling is. Contempt? Anger? Disgust? Embarrassment? Even regret? I read no longer human not long ago and the similarity irks me(love that book though). Not sure if I can finish this, I’m annoyed.
