i first read this around 2012, lent by one of my bestest friend (we're still going strong). over the years, whenever i go to her house, i would often flip around that same copy and found joy every time. a very well written, cliche teen romance. one of my biggest literary influence, my writing style in indonesian is often a mirror of this book. now, it's even better than i remembered. i love it even more.

i love it so much already. "lets pick a short, light-hearted book to pass some time!" and i was hit with bricks. my eyes were hot. point by point, concise, easy paragraphs. and yet, such a harsh and painful topic. spoiler: it's definitely a five star.
may all of us be healthy and happy. may any kinds of conflicts cease to exist. may the world and your family heal.

historical fiction story about boys in england during WW1. we follow them throughout their school years and later, as enlisted army officers. imagine reading school newspapers and found your friends' name under the list of 'killed in action'. they werent even 19 yet.
it broke my heart and mend it, again and again.
only halfway through january and i think i've found one of my top three this year.
