Some great moments, adaptation is better but the fun moments are so great here I wish they had.

But the tense issue is a rather uneasy situation

The end is interesting, everything leading to it is meh. The wrap up with the McGuffin could have been a short story, while rest could have been a text message… in the parlance of “could this book have been an email, could that email be a text…

I could connect to this, I’m wondering if I even like Gibson…

Great but wish the odyssey started earlier in this break down just to break it up a little more.

Didn’t really like book of doors for various reasons. This book is so much worse.and if I’d caught it when I reserved it I would have shipped it.

After 18 chapters I can’t see this getting better or making sense… a lot feels forced, and at times saying made up words with no real context to prove that even if they had meaning they have been said so much with out context that no context can there really be.

Might be for someone else, it’s really not for me

A little to edge lord for me. Violence for just for violence, just not enjoyable for time spent.

Barely actually into the story at chapter 16… not sure what this wants to be, or thinks it is. Is well written and engaging, but not the blurb as much so far, like a tease of the end vs the journey…

Why is there “wealthy Ohio college setting” in what is actually a “low income Ohio village”… Can the Vietnamese setting be trusted to have any research for a reality the story itself take root in. Midland (a real place) as a start point for Evie, with Midland College (not a real place but with people or a different economic situation than the real place), just reads as name picked from hat.

40%, this book has me worried, I didn’t leave my thoughts on book 2. Book one I really loved and was chomping at the bit for the next book. I’ve been a little let down by the writing in book 2 and the nose dive that the author seemed to call out in this book… there is still plenty to appreciate, but it’s rough when it just alludes to things with out context and doing it a lot.

34 hours and 7 minutes, I really need to put this book down for a return to later. I’m both frustrated and enjoying the book at the same time. Some parts I can chalk up to time period it takes place in, and when it was written. But this is so long I need a vacation from the book.

1% in and the “camera” being taken by the police makes no sense, I can see taking the SD card and not getting that back, but “never got that camera back” is a little weird…

So far I’m sick of the Covid references, personally need a little escape from or distance from depending on how it’s talked about. And makes it already feel dated. But I can see some of these stories being used in English classes in the future when students haven’t lived with Covid as a current memory.

Beyond Covid…. The 3rd story about Danny I couldn’t put down. And enjoying Finn
