NOO THE TWIST actually fucking got me

I’ve heard people review this book as having a boring middle, I can’t disagree more. Ravenna just cannot stop having bad things happen to detail her goals and I feel serious pity for her. How tf is she going to get out of this.

I don’t feel the SxR is enough for her to go swimming in the Arno for him tho

I think tbh Signor Luni’s pov could’ve really been missed because the discovery of the war machine is not exactly shocking now. Some of these POVs really could be cut.

I figured my problem with Ravenna is though Saturnino is selectively kind, she has forgotten easily that he has killed in cold blood two people, one in front of her. I hope it comes up later to complicate the relationship.

The smut for Malyr us a bit more my speed because I like him better, but it’s also really like ‘watch me until you x and x and as I y’ dialogue that makes me cringe for no reason. This is however where I feel the more dark romance vibes, as their chemistry is actually better than Sebian and Galantia imo.

I think the MFM dynamic can work and is necessary for this romance plot. But Sebian I find truly boring and not as how the synopsis led me believe he could be. As a few have described, he sounds a bit like just a weird rapey guy in his POV. It doesn’t help the voice in my audiobook is like that

This book had something good in it, but it was concealed by smut that felt at times divorced from the plot, Sebian being annoying, and (even for me) a handling of SA and especially CSA that was frankly a bit gross.
