Did anyone else think this book took place in the UK?

Points lost for vegan hate. Could’ve just said they didn’t like it, not that “being vegan is the absolute worst”. 🙄

It’s VR capture the flag!

Just because a book is dystopian or takes place in what seems to be a post-apocalyptic world does not make it science fiction. Also disappointed to see yet another instance in which god survives the apocalypse and makes people believe harder, instead of finding a new way to explain things in the ever-chancing world.

Imagine sitting around a fire on a cold night listening to this story…

an understanding that the level of today’s bestsellers and the level that this novel offers, being written in 1897, are not unequal, simply experts in their own separate fields.

Hold more contemporary works to higher standards than their predecessors.

First person narrative makes me wonder what this story might be like to hear. Flag to revisit as audiobook.
