Good chance this ends up being the best book I read in 2026.

Audiobook.
So far this one has been either really slow paced details that are losing me, or heart pounding tension that has me on the edge of my seat. Still not in love with these but it’s easy, entertaining listening.

I can’t believe this is non-fiction. Unbelievably alien.

This is gonna be a DNF.
I’ve got no hard feelings towards this book, it’s just not good.

It’s either about to get really good or be a massive disappointment in this final third.

Trying to reconcile the overall trajectory and fruit of the Catholic Church with the beauty of individual writings of Christian monks gives me a sense of tension that I imagine most of the world gets when they look at us evangelicals.

It’s fun so far. I’m really over the LitRPG genre, I read a flurry of them back when Ready Player One was all the rage. This is consistently entertaining and good, but I just don’t feel hooked. We’ll see if I end up progressing in this series at all.

I’m not too proud to admit I’m having trouble relating or connecting with the writings of a catholic priest from the 1500’s.

I think I need a commentary/paraphrase of this from an evangelical. I alternate between going “this is very cool and I would love to try this” to “chill out about Mary” or “hey man there’s no way that’s mentally healthy.”

I still have a deep affection for this.

It was hard to get over the hump of the first few chapters for me. Basically all of “Part 1” felt like a slog.

It’s picked up now and I’m extremely interested.
