Intense first-contact story. It’s interesting to see it set in post-9/11, Bush presidency. I’m enjoying it.

I dropped it. Cute book though - just not something I felt like finishing.

Not sure if this is good or bad, but it is entertaining.

Very similar to “The Martian” in some ways - narrating every step of scientific thinking. That can be tedious, but I’m listening to a good audiobook performance. So it’s entertaining.

I am really liking this. The “Station Eleven” comparisons are apt.

Ugh. This is hard to get through. I appreciate the concept and the world but...I’m struggling to finish this one.

Five books in and I am wondering how often the authors can use the term “companionable silence.”

This is one of those books where you think you’ve hit a big moment only to realize you’re just getting started.

It has been fascinating to read these books and see the allusions change over time to be closer and closer to the present. I’m also intrigued by the idea undergirding all of King’s work - that to create characters and stories is to make them real in some other world/universe.

I am loving the voice of Starr. Sorry I slept on this book and hadn’t had a chance to read it until now.

I don’t want this to end. Told in little pieces of verse, I have cringed, cried, laughed, and held my breath while reading. It’s beautiful.

I already very much like the tone of the narrator Miranda. I’m laughing. I have just been grabbing whatever juvenile fiction is available on the public library digital system and I’m really pleased this one was available. I can already sense this is a good one for my more sarcastic-minded seventh graders.

My venture into juvenile fiction continues! Like game of thrones with forest cats. Sounds weird but you get into it, as many of my students already have.

I’m not sure how I feel about all this but I am intrigued to keep going.

Not something I would have read, but I had an audible credit and Farrow narrates incredibly. He’s not a voice actor, but he does his best to create mood. There is also a light bit of soundtrack that adds to the story. I like books about how a journalist reports a story and this is one of the good ones so far.

It got better. I dropped it at one point but I’m back on it. Some things made me roll my eyes, but the story weaving together is an interesting one.
