I loved this book. I don't want to give too much away so I'll just say that this book is beautiful written, with painstakingly drawn characters still haunted by their childhood spent during WWII in the Netherlands.Their secrets are slowly and skillfully revealed.

Grant states that too often teachers, college admissions counselors and job interviewers only look at what someone has achieved and not how far they've come. So they often overlook those who worked harder to get where they are when they don't have the sterling grades of the best resume. He believes that character is a better predictor of success than innate talent.
