So far I like it a lot. I don’t like the writing style SO much it’s a little too cleverly written like Lemony Snicket and it’s kind of fun but also too riddle-esque and extra imo. But I love how it actually pays close attention to particulars like the hints of apple trees in honey, or what wine goes with what, and how to seat people, etc. I like how closely the count pays attention to small things.

It’s reading like a teenage novel rn I rly don’t know if I can finish I’m halfway through and this is nowhere near as good as Grapes of Wrath

So far I really like it. It took some time to remember the characters but some research online helped (though there isn’t that much). Good practice for reading French. I really like how Deon develops his characters, and the dialogue between Jean and Palfy and Jean and Nelly is rly amusing. I never really understood what had him so drawn to Claude she seems boring.
