Love the bitching about Mark Zuckerberg losing touch with his human decency and becoming power hungry but I’ve gotten bored now. We know the company and all the top level staff suck soooo leave already and end the book :/

The description of facebook almost agreeing to having their first global political initiative being (a) military or (b) organ donation is a GREAT example of how america-centric the company has always been! And how thick some of the very privileged people that work there are. This explains so much about why the world is fucked rn :/

I’m sorry I need you to linger a little longer on how you ended up working in the UN, cause anyone I knew who did that, yes had brains, but more so, had family money and plenty of privilege…

Chapter 58 is truly the most dreamy piece of romantic literature- two stubborn people admit they’re wrong, overcome miscommunication and have the most emotionally open conversation to
ever grace a book girlie’s eyes ❤️❤️❤️

I remember finding the bit where Jane was sick in netherfield so boring when I first read this, (where’s the balls and fancy gaff descriptions at you know!? Also the Bingley sisters sucked) but now I’m loving how this incident allowed Darcy to warm to Elizabeth and her noticing - so cute 🥺❤️

Aaron is such a prick

My guess: even though he is so denial it potential could be, the crime case he’s involved in is linked to the kidnapping.

All the stuff with his friends is just a side line story that has 0 to do with the kidnapping.

Every line is currently chaos. There is a random homeless man prying her apart from her friends having a physical argument with a billionaire dude texting her, doing bumps and buying diamond earrings. Oh wait the girls have made up and are roadtripping around the south of the country.
Girl I’m overwhelmed

Her account of some of the writers she worked with makes me sad.
Clearly talented and interesting people! but like…— Jean Rhys is broke till her death
— Alfred Chester dies of madness
— V.S. Naipaul is prone to depression and only seems to find personal peace when he stops writing/being published

- not exactly a glowing advert for the writer’s life :(

“…but then I had no conception of how someone who feels he doesn’t belong to his “home” and cannot belong anywhere else is forced to exist only in himself; nor of how exhausting and precarious such a condition (blithely seen by the young and ignorant as desirable) can be.”

What an empathetic and insightful line on race, identity, sense of self and being a writer ❤️

Also, she so many besties in so little time:
Harmony, Ella, Tricia, Rose - I need a “where are they now” piece on all if these girlies

Actually have a lot of respect for Diana’s handling of the Myra Hindley situation, “what would society gain…?”, By publishing her memoir where she exaggerates her youth and tries not to take ownership of her crime.
What do we gain from giving voice to anyone else like that on talk shows or stories shown on tv shows or through book deals?

So Diane said what she earned a year in the 40s you know I nosely needed to know what that is now…
£380 a year = ~ £15,000
£500 a year = ~ £21,500

Yup and creative jobs in London would advertise those amounts today and then act dumb as to why only upper class people work in the industry!!

Oh I hope I don’t just feel pissy about the privileged class working in publishing when reading this :/
