The audio version is *exceptional*! The book is like watching a series of hallucinations, but I can’t stop listening because Robin Miles is now at the top of my must-listen narrators.

How did it take me so long to realize that this is a Garden of Eden story? (Spinoff, perhaps?)

Oh, hey! I'm a UU in a church looking for a new minister! Surely this won't hit too close to home ...

And don't get me started on a teacher who hasn't actually taught in years but no one has had the decency to fire. He hates his life, his job, and himself ... but no one has freed him from the decades-old scandal. I don't know what misguided notions people have, but "not doing your job for years on end" is, in fact, grounds for firing a tenured teacher.

So far, everyone is just a stereotype of something. A kid with dyslexia who clearly isn't hiding it, but also hasn't been diagnosed? A jock who was genuinely only useful while able-bodied? A kid who sleeps all day and no one wonders why? Two kids with major anger-management problems and no support? And, of course, a neurotypical (but under-supervised) kid who notices it all.

As usual, my predictions are totally wrong. *sigh* But at least Pig is getting a starring role.

Also, Bahni Turpin is a phenomenal narrator.

Prediction: Curly is Daniel Landry. Maybe. I thought it was weird that we never once heard his real name at Happy Mouse Kingdom.

Scratch that supposed quote from her father. I can’t find it in the text. Must have misheard the audiobook.

Prediction: Dogger is a “bad guy.” He conveniently knows way too much, his episodes have almost magically disappeared compared to their near-daily appearances a year and a half ago, and then there’s the “It was I,” comment from Flavia’s father as he sat by Harriet’s coffin.

Probably wrong. But it would certainly spice up the cast.
