Not what I wanted. Good concept but clumsily executed and a bit too on the nose for my liking. Nuggets of wisdom but all in all a bit too preachy cringey.

why the incest??? It was finally getting going in the last 30 pages of the book and then the incest??? Just weird and completely unnecessary and disgusting. Thanks. Excited to be almost done !!

So I’ve finished the book but I just wanted to get some thoughts out. I liked it but not as much as I always thought I would. I’m glad I read it to know the hype surrounding it. I just was not moved by their love story. There was a lot of telling how they felt about eachother but I just didn’t see it. The war sequence was my favourite, when Patroclus became a medic. Achilles was just unlikeable by the end.

I loved the ending and also didn’t like the ending. A lotta mixed feelings. I also was just really happy to find that the author (female) has a wife and a kid, it just makes queer writing a lot more authentic in my opinion :,) The book could’ve been shorter, there were some meandering parts that took the narrative in circles. Usually didn’t like Eve’s chapters but she was Root! And i liked Root so \_0_/ idk

This is great, they’re so vivid :)

I hate reading this book and cannot wait to be done. It has been such a chore. He whines and rambles on and on about the same thing on every page and I am sick of it. Thank god it’s almost over.

I LOVE THIS BOOOOOOK! It’s so honest and sincere and the characters are so real. I love Ria and I feel so much for her. The whole scene and the relationships are just phenomenally crafted and have such life in them. Anyways, I want mam and Siún to read this book because I love it.

The main character is insufferable and there are no stakes considering we already know she got away with the murders.

Poorly written, very creepy, sometimes enjoyable but not very often unfortunately
