This delightful book started the year beautifully. The playful, childlike setting showcased Jack’s children’s writing. The emotional dialogue evoked sympathy for the characters. The bittersweet story conveyed hope and storytelling’s power. The subtle romance deepened Hugo’s character and enhanced the heartwarming ending. Everyone’s wishes were fulfilled, but no one won—their wishes were meaningful.
