I’m finding it difficult to care about this one. The last have been zippy and fun. I’m not sure what it is about this book that has me dragging my feet. Maybe it’s the dramatised adaptation?

The bit about ichorite being placed into fabric and cosmetics and marketed to the common place people as *accessible luxury* is giving fast fashion but fantasy version.

If “you” is Goss I’m going to fucking riot.

I’m a little irritated that there’s this random drop of lore about the faiths… a lore drop that would have been helpful closer to the beginning of the book.

The world building is so well done for how few chapters were in. Love the descriptive food and scenery.

I want to like this book so badly but holy shit. I’m nearly 100 pages in and we’ve not gotten hardly any plot progression. The world building is there but not explained and there are words being used that I recognise but not in the context of their use. I desperately wish this book had a map and a glossary of terms

The fuck is this story? I’m not sure if I hate the characters or the author.

I want to like this book but when I have sentences like “not a single corpuscle of Cat’s being would remain quiescent when an animal was in distress” it pulls me so far out of the story I’m struggling to invest myself in.
