Reads like a Mary Stewart novel. The Ivy Tree comes to mind. One of my favorites. I am thoroughly engaged.

Lance Davis adapts this in a clear fashion. It's got the ginger of the comedia form. I think my students will enjoy working with this version.

I'm just about finished. I've enjoyed it so far. I especially enjoyed the beginning about the origin of Sapiens.

A very thought provoking book that starts with the multiplicity of human origins. The author is very knowledgeable about the subject. What interests me the most is the differences in the human species: Neanderthal, Cro-magnon, homo-erectus -- he does a good job of explaining but I wish he would do more. At this section he talks of how we keep ourselves unified by our shared myths.

I began the book, but have put it aside for a while and read other fiction books in the meantime. I have every intention of finishing it. It's an excellent book so far.

Have to get the full books -- so they will move to to-read. Both were very good starts.

A completely spellbinding book that is a history of Western civilization through the lens of the development of the left brain the invention of the alphabet.

I like this better and better as it moves to it's end. I took a break to read my husband, Rex Knowles' book 10 days Ago. Can't put that here except smuggled in the middle of my progress on F P, because it doesn't have an ISBN number. However, very funny and a fast read.

Finally the first twist and we are into the story that all the historical explanation is about. The read is faster now.

This is a difficult slow read for me. So much information stuffed into these pages. A thorough history of the Templars. I am driven to continue in spite of the difficulty retaining the information.

Lots of cabalistic numbers that bogged me down a bit. The history of the Templars is interesting. Still a bit tough going -- lots of philosophy.

A bit confusing right now, but still I continue.

I am enthralled with the research and knowledge represented in this novel. I am impressed with DaVinci's philosophy that a work of Art has to enlighten and inform, especially about ideas repressed by the Roman Church of the time.

This gives a great description of what it must have been like to view Da Vinci's painting for the first time, even in it's unfinished version. The painting, actually a mural, is 30 ' wide so at first viewing it looks like a real happening. A truly breath-taking experience.

Another book I picked up at the second hand bookstore. I am enjoying it. I seem to be on a theme here of the late 15th and 16th century. This one concerns Leonardo Da Vinci's painting of "The Last Supper." Already very intriguing. The writer uses the same device I enjoyed in We Are the Mulvaneys, The switch from a first person narration to third person.

This book is well on it's way to 5 stars. Quite an accomplishment.

Joyce Carol Oates does not disappoint. This is a wonderful heart-felt complex human story.

Fun to read this -- that is deeply scholarly -- and read Will at the same time. Tiffany has taken advantage of the latest scholarship in the creation of her book including, it appears, the scholarship of this book.

Chattanooga Times Free Press just asked me for a sentence on what I'm currently reading. I gave Secret Life of Bees I huge thumbs up. This is a wonderful important book.
