The beginning was a little slow for me... then chapter 5 wrecked me. The more that's revealed, the more intrigued I become.

This book has had me LOL several times. I relate to Jacob's character so much. I really like the flow of the book & the flipping between POVs.

Lots of character & world building so far. Still settling into the story. I chose to listen on graphic audio, which helps with all the characters, as they have a full cast. So far, it's giving Hunger Games... maybe Game of Thrones in a sense...

I've had several audible, "WTF?!?!" outbursts. So far, very thought-provoking & makes me reflect on my childhood & how I speak to my own children. I'm thinking about how, as mothers, are we able to recognize the impact in the moment? Are we 100% intentional all the time or do some events, comments, etc. occur without us taking the time to consider the implications?

I have been itching to jump back into this book all day. Raven's quick-witted comments & sass are perfection. Veil's protective nature is super hot.

I'm definitely picturing one of the Hunger Games arenas. Also curious if she can trust everyone who is seemingly looking out for her as of rn.

The way I am flying through this book... I love the characters so far. It's giving Hunger Games vibes. & idk why but the pet name, "little bird" or "wild bird" is doing something for me!
