This is a book my grandmother would have given me-and I say that as the highest possible compliment.

Thank god I didn’t get my sticky little teenage fingers on this book. And thank god it’s finally landed in my calloused adult hands.

I thought this was depressing full stop and holy shit was I ever wrong. This is a stunner. Unbelievably good. Maybe the best book I’ve read all year
