Wow! The writing is incredible, and the characters are spot on. Old timey versions of us, forever relevant I think.

Really graphic and dark. I still love it even if it makes me cringe or skip over parts. You really have to suspend your belief at times. Gaiman puts it all out there so matter of factly and doesn't try to make it real. It's an adult fairy tale and also so much more.

So far I can't say I'm a fan. It's interesting enough but characters are weak and action is tantalizingly delayed or brief. Let's go butcher!!!

I love it. Some of it misses on me but mostly I connect. Campolo doesn't really do it for me. He annoys me every time he reflects on a chapter by mclaren, "Brian has it right when he says.... But he has it wrong when he says...." He may be wise, but he's going about it all wrong for me. I don't need to hear right and wrong, I need to see honest conversation and humility.

So far so really good. I wrestle with much of what the authors present and it feels good to exercise my faith/logic with things that actually make sense.

I'm rereading because I can't stop thinking about it. I originally gave this 4 stars and my wife said I was crazy. Here's to another round!

So far, it's fantastic. I can't help but imagine all the possibilities for history and science and language arts lessons. I cannot wait until I have the chance to share this with older students and discuss all the implications of WWII and the first atomic bomb. Not to mention it's fantastically exciting and fun to read.

"...the great weight of the unspoken left them little to talk about." Mind blown. I feel like this all the time with people; you want to have a conversation but there's so much to dodge that you don't feel like you can talk at all.

Lots of clever one-liners. Quotable is usually a turnoff for me... We shall see.

It is a heavy read for me but I'm really enjoying it. It definitely feels like more than just fiction if you get that at all. Like he's making some observations about life and trying to prophecy and judge and mentor... I don't know. I will tell you my dictionary has been my reading buddy for this. :) lots of words I've never even seen before.
