Had to check names and got slightly spoiled. But Edmond Dantes is too goody two shoes to be safe for long. Also i have new life goals to have a moustache twirling evil friendship like Danglars and Caderousse do.
Also, senior Dantes is probably 40 or something but because it is an old book he is treated like he is pushing 90. Loved the whole,
"I cant go shopping otherwise people would think i didn't have food"

Dumas has such a distinct style for dialogue. Perhaps it is his background in theatre. I find it snappy and boldy characterful. Despite being based on the med, very little focus is given for the scenery or landscape. The focus is on the story and characters. I do enjoy the pacing of the chapters, i feel this focus keeps you in the scene and looking forward to the next chapter. Only a few to go.
