raif affandi quite reminds me of myself, a very guarded person, when the narrator said that they didn’t have much of deep conversation but enough to keep a friendship, i really see myself in him because i tend to keep everything to myself that everytime when me and my friends have a quick catch up it’s always them who do the talking, i always end up with “i have no story to tell”

i’m on chapter 37 now, 2 chapters left but i have to put myself in a time out to be mentally prepared to finish this book. I have never been this scared to finish a book before but this book make me desperately hope that Salama will get her happy ending with Kenan. She’s been through a lot like A LOTTTT and i genuinely lost count of how many times i’ve cried. Pray for me

on chapter 15 now, one of the sentences that hit me the most is when layla said “we don’t have to stop living just because we might die. Anyone might die at any given moment, anywhere in the world. We are not an exception. We just see death regularly more than they do” How foolish of me for not wanting to live while having a stable and peaceful life, while ppl in the war wishes they could stay alive peacefully.

on chapter 8 now, one line that got me stunned is “do all six years old know what death is? or is it only children of war?” and the other one is when the little boy died and he said he’s going to tell god everything that happened in this unfair dunya :(

read this because i was so confused with my friends behaviour that’s so male-centered that she’d do anything in order to get male’s attention, someone suggested this to me because yeah i just want to understand why she acted that way, out of sudden i feel like the book is more relatable to me than her lol hahaha gonna continue reading it later after finals (or not idk)
