Currently consuming a lot of French literature

I‘m not really into poetry but that might change

My French teacher gave me copies of all his works, loving them so far!

Currently reading the German version, I’m spellbound.

God how much I love her. Can’t believe I enjoy this read more in French than in English.

I love Duras’ introspective writing. What I admire most is how she tells her story through her own eyes, deeply personal, yet with a sense of pudeur, shying away from expressing everything. There’s an undertone of shame, but she still remains raw. One sentence in this book can convey more than an entire novel.

Decided to reread Howl, and it hits differently now that I know more about Ginsberg’s troubling past. Why is it that so many great artists are so deeply flawed? It’s hard to fully enjoy the work without feeling uncomfortable about the person behind it.

Obviously not the easiest book to read in French but I love the way she expresses herself
