So far this book has been really good. Super fast paced plot and excellent world building. The MC is pretty passive but it works for the story that they’re telling

The scene where Mercedes pleads with Edmond to save her son is an incredible scene

The return to Paris section of the book has been really interesting. I love the way that the Count chooses to break down each target of his revenge. Challenging the financial acumen of Dangerls, the world view of Viliefort and the masculinity of Fernando

So far the book is still really good, the betrayal of Edmond is incredibly heartbreaking and his character is very likable (if a little Mary Suish), the Italy part that I’m at now has been considerably slower and less interesting than the first part
