Oh the lesbian themes are much more overt than I'd expected! I'm pleased, the book seems very modern because of that.

Reading this for a winter challenge tho I really should have saved this for October. Oh well I picked it because it's reasonably short and I might get done in time for March to be other books.

You have got to have very vile sense of humor to title the chapter "Daddy" in which your main couple physically fights then the man rapes the woman. Diana Gabaldon not escaping the rape fetishist allegations, ew.

It's REALLY off-putting to see the only female character who exists in the story be immediately sexualized for simply existing. She's not even awake. Do better.

I'm so enjoying this, the style of writing is so funny.

Reading this for the Lasting Reads challenge. I did read it years ago while I was in school but I don't remember much of it so basically I'm having a fresh start.

Claire's not in 18th century Scotland for 8 hours before she's being sexually harassed/assault, could somebody not have told Diana Gabaldon to fucking CHILL on this issue? Like WE GET IT, do something else with the story. I'd wager lice were loads more common than rape but Claire encounters parasite infestations with far less frequency so you can't argue realism for this happening over and over in these books.

If Austin isn't dead by the time this book is over I'm going to shit in it and throw it down a well. I am so tired of him and of Tucker.
