I genuinely adore Ursula. She's the best by FAR so far. Not even a competition, all the men genuinely suck and the girls tend to be either victims or bitchy. Or, Pilar, who is horrible at man level. But Ursula is fantastic, and aside from letting her son marry a child, she's just marvellous. Yeah, that's a pretty massive aside, idk what to say, it's a fucking mess.

Unfortunately, despite the rampant predation on girl-children, it's an interesting book and otherwise enjoyable.

Words cannot describe how much I despise aureliano. Poor young Remedios...

It bothers me significantly how many men are predating on young girls, on children, in this book.

I would find it otherwise enjoyable, but the fact that I can tell from the little family tree at the front, that the man for whom is literally described that he would be old enough to be the father of her, will marry the girl who is nine (9, single digits, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9) is HORRIBLE! WHY!!!

Struggling hard w the fact that it's a massive book, but I'm getting there with silly highlighting methods and two chunks of text per day

Very very enjoyable. Easy stories to read. They mostly have a purpose or a moral, when they do it's easy to understand. Unlike his novels, these stories are often unconflicting. There is a good and there is a bad, the ending is often one that gives the reader a solid sense of completeness and satisfaction for the ending can be called "good". While I like both styles, this is refreshing.

Absolute hell on earth to study. Really useful and well written though, it just sucks to be a student of it at this pace
