This book is interesting and informative, but it suffers from a fatal flaw: it’s mistitled. I’m about halfway through and it just doesn’t really give much explanation of “how to watch soccer.” He gives an account of his career and then gives a manager’s view of many aspects of the sport, but it rarely delivers on what to look for when watching a match.

So absurdist. The characters have no idea what’s going on and neither do I.
