God, this book is beautiful

Lord, opening this book is like seeing an old friend

This is a fantasy novel dressed up like a literary novel to fool people into thinking they aren't reading a genre book. I wonder if the author knows that or if it fooled him too.

Stephen King wrote himself into his own novels, author as manifestation of cosmic imperative, and it was less grating than this 2 sentence mention of the Great and Tragic Burden of Writerly Fate.
Some of that may have been from how his own characters weren't impressed and clearly thought he was a jagoff.

Broadly I'm enjoying this book but every now and again I get to a part that's difficult to read, because it's hard to keep the book still while also making sarcastic jerk-off motions.

Shout out to Nezu's unnamed personal driver, guy handles a car like he was supposed to be in Fury Road and wound up on Neo-Tokyo by mistake

God, this book is a mess.

I maybe have just been in a weird mood the last couple days, but it does feel like this is the book that might get me to admit this is a bad series. Question remains whether it's bad enough for me to stop reading it.

The most obvious tell that Fidelias was going to have a face turn was that he has an actual psychology and perspective on the world that informs his decisions, a thing that no villain in this series is permitted to have.

It seems like in between each book I forget that the writing has all the subtlety and nuance of getting punched in the eye.
I keep reading this series for a reason but it would be nice if there was an antagonist who had an ounce of motivation other than being Evil and slash or Stupid.

Please stop having people say "spoiled for choice." This is at least the third time. Please find another phrase.

This book might know the meaning "subtlety", but it definitely doesn't know its use.

What a fabulously horrible little world

Ok, I should have seen this coming, but I do like this

How many plot threads are there going to be in this dang book? There are...five major threads already and another four or five minor ones.

So we have one evil woman named "hateful" and another evil woman named "envious". Would be nice for there to be an evil man named "Murderer" or "Asshole" or something.

This book would be a lot shorter if there weren't all these contrived obstacles.

This sequence isn't necessary or worthwhile.

"He felt the earth turn under the balloon."

Once and Future King has made Lancelot indelibly ugly in my mind. The Ill-Made Knight is too powerful a story for me to imagine Lancelot as handsome.
