Schwerner is one of many poets acknowledged by Dennis Tedlock in his "2000 Years of Mayan Literature." I was delighted to discover among them many writers about whom I've been curious. Los Angeles Public Library had about half of them.

Scott is starting Quipu
Sze is one of many poets acknowledged by Dennis Tedlock in his "2000 Years of Mayan Literature." I was delighted to discover among them many writers about whom I've been curious. Los Angeles Public Library had many of Sze's books; I chose "Quipu" because I like imagining how the Inka knot system (quipu) could be a form of "writing."

Antin is one of many poets acknowledged by Dennis Tedlock in his "2000 Years of Mayan Literature." I was delighted to discover among them many writers about whom I've been curious. I'm curious that this collection of 1963-1973 poems was only published in 1991. Why? What about poems he continued to write between 1973 and 1991? Antin collaborated with Jerome Rothenberg on the journal "some/thing."

Mackey is one of many poets acknowledged by Dennis Tedlock in his "2000 Years of Mayan Literature." I was delighted to discover among them many writers about whom I've been curious. Los Angeles Public Library had about half of them. I learned about Mackey when he won the Nat'l Book Award for Poetry in 2006. He says "Blue Fasa" is a continuation of two serial poems, "Song of the Andoumboulou" and "Mu."
