I sampled this but am finding it too young for me so will return it to the library for others to enjoy.

I’m enjoying the banter and the story, but as someone who lost their mother to early onset dementia this just hits too close to home and I can’t continue. I know some people like to revisit their grief through books, I am not one of those people.

I’m going to DNF this at 45%. I’ve read the others in this series but 2 of the 3 stories so far had characters that were really unpleasant. Rude in a way I have a hard time buying, though know it’s so they can have character growth. It’s just not enjoyable at all.

What started out as cozy, light and fun turned into eye rolling-ly ridiculous so I’m going to DNF this.

I really thought I’d loved this book. The reviews are so strong and I typically love books told through correspondence. The tone of this is just not working for me so I’ll return to the library so someone else can enjoy it as I know there’s a long wait list. Glad I gave it a try but respectfully setting it aside.

Well 2026 is starting off with lots of DNF’s. I’m 20% in and it’s fine, but if I’m going to spend another 11.5 hours reading this I’d need to like it a lot more than I do.

That was fun! Excited to find a good series to enjoy. The narrator was very good and I loved the story.

While I liked the first two in this series this isn’t working for me so I’ll return to the library.

I’m about 200 pages in and setting this aside. While it loved the other Scalzi books I’ve read and actually loved the first 100 pages of this it’s just not working for me. I’m not sure what I expected as it’s literally called Old Man’s War but it’s all just military and battles and not my thing.

The bullet journaling is truly the icing on the cake with this one. Loving it.

It might be a case of my being a moody little mood reader but this isn’t working for me. I’m surprised as I know it’s well loved but I’m not connecting with it.

Setting aside. Might come back to it. Might not.

Getting totally freaked out (I’m a scaredy cat) so switching to Murderbot to cleanse my brain.

I’m going to try to slowly work my way through this. As I think it will take some time, I wanted write a note on the two stories I’ve read so far. I’m thinking her non-Imperial Reach stories might not be my cup of tea.

Lake of Souls - This was somewhat weird but interesting. Overall I liked it well enough.

Hesperia and Glory - This was super weird and caused me to set the book aside for a while.

Also sampled and returned to the library.

I’m just past half way though, on pate 290, but just don’t have another half in me right now. I’m putting this one aside, for now and maybe for good. It’s not that it’s not a good book but just not what I’m interested in right now.

Just received an ARC of this and I’m so excited!! Pausing on my current read to read this because I. Just. Can’t. Wait. 🎄
