Marion Blackwood really just said tropes on tropes on tropes and fucking ran, I literally don’t even know what’s going on anymore in this series. All I know is I’m dizzy and the writing is just sooooo bad. One more book and I can be put out of my misery.

The spice gets kicked up a notch in this book, and it’s imo way overdone, found myself skipping over entire spice scenes out of boredom.

Just when I thought there couldn’t be anymore tropes the author found a way to throw like 6 more at us, it’s actually astonishing. I’ve also found myself only reading on because I want to learn more about Draven and that’s it. Selena is very annoying at this moment.

The FMC is a little too self-righteous for my liking, I typically prefer a morally grey or in the very least a realist to some sanctimonious “I’m not like other privileged girls” type of FMC - but it’s my first Viking/fae hybrid book and it definitely has me intrigued. Also love me a slow burn, even if it did kick off a little fast for my liking.

This book is taking me so long to get through. And it’s definitely its fault - despite being by far the most “interesting” of all three of the books. But that’s honestly not saying much. I’m maybe 4 chapters away from DNFing and reading the synopsis online.

These books, to my endless disappointment, are completely lacking in every single way. There’s so much potential for depth and development in all these characters and I constantly just feel like I’m reading the most unimaginative and shallow depictions of them. Not to mention how literally everything keeps wrapping up so neat and perfect. Sadly I lack the ability to stop reading a book. I must know how it ends.

So far I’m really glad I started listening to this book on audible. I don’t think I would be able to duplicate the cadence that Jenny meant the book to be read at. So far I’m in love.
