Each story got even better than the last! I'm excited well get a continuation of one of these!

I love myself some horror stories during spooky season, and this first one didn't disappoint! For some reason, I've never been interested in picking up a Jeneva Rose novel. Now I fear I may have been missing out ...

DNF. I just couldn't do it. When a woman gets described as a little girl and that's what the MMC is attracted to, I have to tap out

Yeah ... this will be a DNF. Gonna try to make it to 30% because that's usually the point where, if things will get better, they do. But Colt is a walking red flag and I can feel the insta-lust and misogyny under my skin like a bad itch. On the bright side, the 1 star reviews have me adding the book Cash to my TBR. Apparently that's the steak version of this sad plate of lukewarm microwaveable meatloaf.

I like Lainey so far, but the jury is still out on Colt. Not sure how Peterson intends to write our MCC but that will be the determining factor in if I DNF this or keep going.

God, I love Freya Marske. This was beautiful. When you can understand (not agree with, but understand) the POV of the culprit(s) behind the murder(s) ... to feel everything ... masterful. This book, beyond being fascinating and so cleverly woven, made me feel deeply.

The descriptions of the magic in accordance with music and harmony is so incredibly lovely

As someone who easily guesses the end of murder mysteries early on, I'm happy to announce the world-build, personal character arcs, and underlying subterfuge have kept even me in the dark!
