This author is an amazing narrator.

Chapter 6 and 7 are good.

Midway through chapter 5, I can say that it‘s my favorite chapter so far. I enjoy the discussion of dialects and the relationship between culture and language, so the examination of the algorithm‘s effect on developing internet-based social groups is interesting to hear.

It‘s okay. It fits more into the category of entertainment than academic. It may interest people with casual interest in sociolinguistics or the secrets of social media virality. I would personally prefer a more academic and less anecdotal analysis, but this style of writing is in line with the author‘s social media content.

Planning to write a full review once I finish. I wanted to love this book and recommend it to everyone, but I‘m disappointed so far. I can only hope the author might take into consideration the criticisms which many other readers have voiced in reviews here. The book needs a major revision with these criticisms in mind (on which I will go into more detail when I write a full review after finishing the book).
